DÆRICK GRÖSS SR
Dærick Gröss Sr was a lifelong comicbook fan. He was 20 years into his professional illustration career before breaking into comics in his early 40s. An opportunity came his way in the late 1980s to draw (and ultimately art direct) for a small publisher of martial arts-themed magazines (CFW Enterprises), thus his journey into comics began. This is the birth of Studio G's characters Reiki (now named Mr. No) and Sifu, soon followed by more traditional superhero charcaters such as our flagship heroine Murciélaga. Not long after, an opportunity to work on Innovation's The Vampire Lestat turned Dærick Sr into a near-overnight sensation with his richly painted interiors.
What followed was an incredible adventure for him as he launched fully into comics and painted, drew, wrote, and edited his way through comcic projects for our own house Studio G, as well as for so many others shops including Marvel, DC, Image, Malibu, Heroic, Revolutionary, Chaos, Innovation, Charlton Neo, InDELLible, AK Comics, and many others. In 1991 he was the recipient of the Russ Manning Award.
Below are just some samples from across his comics career.
